The Yard, a non-profit contemporary artist residency and dance performance center on Martha’s Vineyard, in Chilmark, MA, is looking for summer interns for our 2017 Performance Season. The internship focuses both on the administrative facets of an art non-profit as well as an opportunity for skilled dancers and artists to partake in performance and choreographic experiences. The successful candidate should expect to be involved in all aspects of arts management with focus on their individual areas of interest/expertise throughout the summer season.

At the heart of The Yard’s summer internship program is a major focus on Artist Services. While The Yard seeks interns with individual specialties (see below positions and job descriptions), each participating intern is expected to assist the Senior Staff in the day-to-day management of a single theater venue with 3 weekly on-site performances, 2-3 off-site performances, and 5-10 community events throughout the summer. Interns are required to participate every day throughout the season in many different areas of Artists Services work with rotating leadership roles each week.
With this in mind, The Yard is looking for candidates who possess:

A positive attitude in the face of constant multi-tasking, long hours, and some physical labor
The confidence to work independently or with peers on important projects

Adjunct at Dean College: Looking at Dance – Spring 2017

Dean College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach two sections of PFA 195: Looking at Dance to our day students during the Spring 2017 semester. PFA 195: Looking at Dance is a 3-credit class that meets for 3 hours/week. There are approximately 25 students in each section. The adjunct pay rate is $2600/class. The instructor will also be expected to schedule one office hour/week per section. The two open sections are scheduled as follows: • Tuesday & Thursday, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm • Tuesday & Thursday, 4:40 pm to 6:10 pm
Looking for a Hip Hop Dance Teacher starting on January 5th – June 17th. Must have experience teaching Hip Hop to boys & girls ages 5-18. Must be available Thursdays 4:15-7:30pm. Candidate should be able to structure weekly classes, manage a classroom, create choreography for recreational and competitive dancers, and communicate effectively with students and parents.
Intern at the Bates Dance Festival this summer! Options include technical production, videography/media (with Boston’s own Lindsay LaPointe), social media, administration and dance education. Deadline for applications is Feb 1.
Seeking a female dancer for a public performance at North Eastern Crossing from 5pm to 7pm on December 14th. The performance requires improvisation, and the dancer would be performing in costume as one of the Fine Art Superheroes, (an avatar with a thematic focus).
