Souvenir: a new ballet by the producers of Urban Nutcracker
Tony Williams is launching his brand new company, City Ballet of Boston with a journey through ballet. This show, Souvenir, is a look back, a look forward, and a moment caught in time; the perfect dance souvenir.
The show features dances by Gerald Arpino, Isadora Duncan, Gianni diMarco, and Tony Williams. The new company of sixteen members will dance “Birthday Variations,” from the Arpino Foundation, set by Nicole Duffy Robertson; a medley of Isadora Duncan masterpieces, set by Ellen O’Reilly-Jonas, a long-time friend of Mr. Williams and former Boston Ballet Dancer. CBB’s Assistant Artistic Director, Gianni diMarco takes the reigns of “Cuban Overture” by Gershwin into his masterful hands. Souvenir is rounded out with the debut of Tony Williams’ full “Ephemera,” which is a ballet set to music by Claude DeBussy and a moving ballet set to Duke Ellington’s rendition of “Autumn Leaves”
