The City University of New York is also preparing to participate in this exciting centennial year by presenting a Sokolow concert on May 7th, at the Queensborough Community y College campus in Bayside, New York. Lorry May, Artistic Director of SOKOLOW NOW! and Emily Berry, Professor at the City University of NY, will coordinate the production of this unique celebration concert that integrates live performance with rare film footage to provide a historical perspective on the work of Anna Sokolow. Highlights of the evening include As I Remember, a triad of work that Sokolow created for her solo concerts in the 1930's and 1940's; and Lyric Suite, a remarkable interpretation of Alban Berg's music of the same name. Lyric Suite, choreographed in1953, established Sokolow as a major choreographer of her time.
