At Boston Conservatory Main Stage Theater (31 Hemenway St Boston, MA)

“Inventories of Animated Bodies” at 7pm on Thursday and Friday and at 2pm on Sunday
The Boston Conservatory Dance Ensemble presents Triple Play, featuring the work of three choreographers, three composers and three different dance genres. The eclectic concert includes a premiere by Daniel Pelzig (former resident choreographer of the Boston Ballet) set to Tchaikovsky's Trio in a minor for Violin, Piano and Cello; Zero Cool, a jazz dance work by Cathy Young set to music drawn from Duke Ellington's Far East Suite and Latin American Suite; and iconic modern dance choreographer Doug Varone's The Constant Shift of Pulse set to John Adams' "Hallelujah Junction." At select performances, Prometheus Dance will present a pre-show, “Inventories of Animated Bodies,” a series of dance installations created by French choreographer Christine Fricker. Audience members will chance upon installations of bodies in movement and can observe the performances in close proximity as if viewing an art object. Performed by dancers from Prometheus Dance, The Elders Ensemble and students from the Boston Conservatory, “Inventories of Animated Bodies” reveals and celebrates personalities by exposing the bodies of professional artists from various backgrounds as well as the bodies of amateur dancers of various ages and body types. This interactive project exposes the singularity and diversity of the imaginary worlds, body constructions, postures, limits, and weaknesses which define each one of us. Christine Fricker is a choreographer and teacher, and the founder of Compagnie Itinerrances in Marseille, France. Trained at the Marseille Opera, she continued her scholarship at the Alvin Ailey Center in New York. Upon returning to Marseille, France, in 1991, she founded Compagnie Itinerrances, wishing to, "...demystify contemporary dance by making it directly accessible to the public." Her company regularly tours in France, Finland, Germany, Canada, Greece, Spain, USA, & Poland. Fricker has received commissions from: University of Calgary, Maison de la Danse, Polish Dance Theatre, The Slender Festival, and ADIAM 83.
