Mission + Vision
Mission
Boston Dance Alliance supports the dance community that invigorates Boston through this living and dynamic art form. Toward that end, BDA provides services that raise the profile of dance, nurture artistic excellence, and enhance the effectiveness and vitality of its individual and institutional members.
Established in 1985, Boston Dance Alliance is Boston's largest official organization addressing issues of importance to the local and regional dance community. Our members include individual dancers, dance organizations, technical artists and individuals who are committed to the presentation and enjoyment of the art form. BDA strengthens bonds within the local dance community and provides important links between the local community and the larger world of dance. Our goal in developing the dance community is to increase and improve communication with funding organizations, educational organizations, technical service professionals and the public sector. We accomplish this in a variety of ways:
Vision
Boston Dance Alliance will strengthen the dance community, inspire and facilitate interest in dance, and connect those involved in dance.
BDA’s activities will achieve its goal that dance in Greater Boston is well known, well attended, well integrated into the fabric of the community, and well funded. In the future that BDA envisions:
- Dance will be experienced in a wide variety of settings, including educational, participatory, and presentational.
- Dance will have an excellent reputation for high quality.
- Dance will attract large diverse audiences at performances.
- Dance community will be balanced by viable small, mid-size, and large dance organizations.
Supporting this community will be consistent sources of public and private funding; appropriate performance, rehearsal, participation, and teaching space; and an active group of presenters providing opportunities for the many forms of dance.
