Springstep is a young nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting participation in dance and music from a broad diversity of cultural traditions, in order to develop greater appreciation for these arts and to strengthen community bonds in our multicultural world. We are seeking an experienced marketing professional with a diverse skill set including strong writing skills, the technical proficiency required to manage our website, and the ability to produce print materials. As part of a small and dynamic staff, support will also be required for overall customer service and programs. The successful candidate will be an outgoing and energetic professional who is motivated to excel, organized, and highly computer literate. This position reports directly to the Executive Director, with additional supervision from the Director of Operations.

Qualifications: Must possess excellent writing skills, be very well organized, and have at least 3-4 years professional marketing experience. Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. We have a strong preference for candidates with direct experience with website management; a high level of proficiency with computer technology and databases is essential to the job. Position requires use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Dreamweaver, HTML, InDesign, Photoshop, and constituent relations databases, such as E-Tapestry, Raiser's Edge, or others. Must be a detail-oriented, self-starter with a high level of motivation and initiative.

Marketing & Communications Responsibilities:

• Writing: Write and edit copy for publications such as our annual report, and for marketing all programs (including catalog copy, press releases, website copy, and more). Serve as a resource to all staff on copy writing, editing, and proofreading.
  
  
• Materials Production & Distribution: Take a lead role in the creation and distribution of all marketing print materials. Produce (in-house) our course catalog, brochures, event program flyers and advertisements. Manage the services of a professional design consultant for the annual report and other major pieces. • Marketing Strategy: Analyze and understand Springstep audiences and program participants; promote increased participation and attendance. Work with the Executive Director and staff to develop our annual marketing strategy and new marketing initiatives.

Web & Database Responsibilities:

• Website Content Management: Write and edit website content such as news items, program descriptions, and other information. Post all content to www.springstep.org, including our extensive online course catalog and calendar of events. Keep the website current at all times. Work with consultant to maintain website operations and ensure site security. Manage service provider that hosts website. Experience in web technology is highly desirable (HTML, Dreamweaver, photo editing, and Content Management Systems such as Drupal) or must have a demonstrated capacity to learn these skills very quickly.
  
• E-mail Newsletters: Write and distribute monthly HTML newsletter. Increase organizational capacity to segment, message test and track results.
  
• Marketing Database: Work cooperatively with our development staff person to manage the combined marketing and development database. Ensure that we capture contact information for current and prospective program participants, and that the database is structured effectively. Perform mail merges and manage all marketing mailings.
  
• Website Development: Oversee future website development with the help of outside consultants. Increase capacity to capture data from online transactions directly into Springstep's marketing database, thus minimizing the need for redundant manual data entry. Explore opportunities to utilize the website for successful marketing efforts.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: As a member of an administrative team of three, answer incoming phone calls, register course participants, sell tickets, and respond to on-site public inquiries. Assist with other duties as needed. Take a lead role in establishing outstanding “customer service” for members, donors, program participants, and the public.
