Dance Theatre of Harlem School’s Summer Intensives provide a challenging exploration of classical ballet in a diverse and nurturing environment. Led by School Artistic Director Augustus van Heerden, former principal dancer with Dance Theatre of Harlem, students will be steeped in all aspects of classical ballet training and preparation following the DTH methodology for training pre-professional dancers.
The central focus of Summer 2017 is the 25th anniversary of Dance Theatre of Harlem’s historic tour to post-apartheid South Africa. Students will learn the history and repertoire from this ground-breaking tour, and will be taught by former company members.
Students will also take supplemental classes in various techniques, choreography, dance history, master classes taught by master artists, and field trips to select performances in NYC to round off these robust intensives.
