Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Uncommon’s curriculum and the success of its students. Therefore, Uncommon Schools seeks teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach varied content area curriculum.
  • Performing Arts only: Design, direct and produce school productions annually, and community meetings weekly.
  • Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds, characters & lives of students in & out of school
  • Show unwavering commitment to urban youth achieving greatness.
  • Create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students embrace the school’s core values, high expectations, and strict code of conduct
  • Implement curricula and activities to meet grade level content area standards.
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Participate in the collaborative curriculum development process.
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
  • Share responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities.
  • Focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs.
  • Engage families in their children’s education
  • Commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings.
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.
Qualifications

  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;
  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom;
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for content subject area;
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred; and
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.
  • Belief in and alignment with Uncommon’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable

Joey at Party Solutions (partysolutionsco@aol.com / 781-608-9240) is looking to book 6 to 8 professional dancers for a July 27, 2019, 2 to 7 p.m., private house back yard party gig, to perform 2 dance numbers from the Broadway show “Cats” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and pose in character for photo ops (1 hour total). The numbers can be the show’s original choreography or your choreography/structured improv in the style of the show. Singing is optional, and you can perform to the soundtrack from the show. They’ve requested female dancers, but of course, male & female dancers would be great!

Joey can provide a makeup artist, or if you have a makeup artist or do your own makeup, that cost will be added to your fee.
Any costume expenses, incl. rentals, can be added to fee.
If you have to provide a sound system, that will be added to your fee.
Your total fee is negotiable with Joey or the client.

Watertown Children’s Theatre, a program of the Mosesian Center for the Arts, seeks Teaching Artists to join our corps of faculty for upcoming class seasons. Classes range from pre-school age through high school students and include on-site classes and off-site after-school enrichment classes in all areas of drama and theatrical production. WCT Teaching Artists coordinate, develop, and implement performing arts educational programs to reach a broad and diverse audience.
This position requires:

– Prior experience teaching drama, dance, music, or other areas of theatrical production of pre-K – high school age students

– BFA or equivalent experience

– Ability to implement successful methods of classroom management, in addition to upholding the WCT mission, which is “to foster self discovery, creativity, confidence, group responsibility, and pride in accomplishment, as well as the development of skills in an enjoyable, non-competitive environment.”

– A passion for developing and implementing educational theatre programming and strengthening current programming for children and teens

– Excellent communication and organizational skills
