Affiliated (Part-time) Faculty Member | Modern Dance | Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department of Emerson College is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach a Modern Dance course during the Spring 2024 semester.

 

The course description is as follows:

DA234 Modern Dance – This course will focus on developing expansive, articulate and powerful dancing through embodying principles of modern dance. Core concepts will include dynamic alignment, weight transfer, momentum, breath, movement initiation, rhythmic precision, and musicality. Students will build physical coordination, strength, flexibility, balance, body awareness and an understanding of principles of modern dance.

The modern dance course is open to both beginners and those looking to deepen their existing dance practice.

We encourage applications from candidates who teach about the performing arts in ways that expose power relationships and oppressive practices that are normalized in dominant cultures and who explore race, gender, sexuality, and class dynamics through their work. Course Time and Date: Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00-5:45pm, January 16-May 2, 2024
