Boston Early Music Festival 2017 Intern

The Boston Early Music Festival is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the June 2017 Festival in the area of Intern, Assistant to the Dance Director.

 

Under the direction of the BEMF Dance Director Melinda Sullivan and BEMF Choreographer Caroline Copeland, the Intern, Assistant to the Dance Director will provide direct support for opera productions of both Andre Campra’s Le Carnaval de Venise and the double bill of Giovanni Battisti Pergolesi’s La serva padrona & Livietta e Tracollo.

 

Duties will include supporting BEMF Dance Director Melinda Sullivan and BEMF Choreographer Caroline Copeland with any number of professional and personal needs; being on hand during all rehearsals for both productions for the duration of the opera residency at Emmanuel Church; being on hand during all Campra performances at the Cutler Majestic Theatre; being on hand for the single performance of the Pergolesi at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall; assisting with note taking and record keeping; assisting with management of props and costumes pieces; and other duties as described.

 

Candidates for this internship should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have highly-developed interpersonal skills, an advanced ability to problem solve, strong organizational expertise, strong computer proficiency, the ability to work independently, and a dedication to the performing arts.

 

A familiarity with dance techniques at a professional level is essential for this internship, and the intern engaged will be invited to take a Baroque dance company class. Familiarity and interest in early music, opera, and the performing arts is strongly encouraged. Previous experience in arts management, concert management, or non-profit administration is encouraged, but not required.

 

Dates of residency: May 14 to June 18, 2017
