Introducing “Step into a Story,” a February vacation Irish Dance Theater Camp. During this week-long camp, children will combine the steps of Irish dance with theatrical storytelling, turning a folk tale into a dance performance. Through collaboration between instructor Hannah DeRusha and the dancers themselves, the narrative arc and tone of the tale will be conveyed through Irish dance. Students will learn and drill new steps, creatively apply dances they know to a new project, and explore basic theater techniques (such as costume design) and improvisation games. The week will culminate in a fun performance for parents and friends.
