Midday Movement Series is a grassroots initiative that aims to invigorate professional dance in Boston by offering affordable advanced classes with emerging contemporary dance artists from Boston and beyond. Join us this Thursday for a Cuban Contemporary class with Anara Frank of MetaMovements!

Cuban Modern is a codified technique created in the 1960s, which is still used as the primary foundation of all dance training in Cuba today, along with training in it’s three main roots: American Modern (particularly Graham, Cunningham and Sokolow), Classical Ballet, and Traditional Afro-Cuban Dance & Music. Fathered by Ramiro Guerra, it continues to serve as inspiration for new generations of Contemporary and Latin dancers, instructors and choreographers, as they stretch the limits of the human body, and explore the depths of human expression. With a particular focus on undulating motion and the use of the pelvis as the motor center, you will leave with new techniques and movement vocabulary.
