PHYSICAL THEATRE FOR DANCERS WORKSHOP WITH CHIARA D’ANNA
expand acting skills and emotional range within your dancing
This workshop offers dancers an opportunity to explore different approaches to physical characterization and characters’ interaction.
The workshop will integrate a range of techniques and approaches inspired by Commedia dell’Arte, an ancient form of popular theatre originated in Italy in the 16th century, and a contemporary training methodology known as the ‘Core Training’.
Through the exploration of Commedia archetypes dancers will develop a range of skills fundamental in any performance setting – such as space awareness, understanding of tempo-rhythm, comic timing, physical characterization – while developing a deep understanding of ensemble work, audience interaction and improvisation. Participants will also have the opportunity to work with Commedia dell’Arte’s traditional leather masks.
