Discover the role ritual plays and explore the relationship between ritual movement and dance with Resident Choreographer Chavi Bansal and her company Vimoksha. Create movement that incorporates text and gesture and experiment with different spatial structures to change the experience of the phrase in a process that focuses on communicating with an audience by placing readable codes or moments into an abstract work.

Then learn, analyze and dance a short movement phrase from Vimoksha’s new work, Rituals, a piece that examines the role of rituals in our lives—why rituals exist and why people are drawn to the safety of rituals.

Movement artists of all levels of experience are welcome. The workshop is open to artists from high school students to practicing professionals.
