As our society comes to new understandings and articulations of gender identity and sexuality, what is required to stand in our truth? Through a dancemaking process that connects us across age, difference, and distance—how can we remain nimble to those articulations? Join Marsha Parrilla, Director of Danza Orgánica, and Matthew Cumbie, an Associate Artistic Director of Dance Exchange, to explore identities, herstories and histories, especially as they relate to gender identity and sexuality. This participatory discussion and workshop will share creative practices and connect participants to local and national conversations to better understand the historical and contemporary contexts of queer and women-centered community building.

Martha’s Salon is organized by Andrea Blesso Albuquerque, BCA and David Henry, ICA.
