This class explores ABRAXAS Dance Theatre's signature style of Lyrical Fusion. As the core of our technique is ballet, we will incorporate ballet barre conditioning, center work and core strengthening exercises into every class. We will also be fusing disparate dance techniques into our class work.
Weeks one and two will focus on belly dance fundamentals, weeks three and four we will explore modern dance movements. For the final two weeks we will incorporate jazz technique and explore how to use dynamic and explosive movements to punctuate otherwise lyrically flowing choreography.

Gyrokinesis® was invented and developed by Juliu Horvath while in search of healing his own injuries. It is the core of the "Juliu Horvath Method(TM)”. Its Level I is also known as "The Essentials of Body Kinetics(TM)". It incorporates many of the key principles of yoga, dance, swimming and tai-chi.
Gyrokinesis® exercises are based on seven natural elements of spinal movement: forward, backward, left side, right side, left twist, right twist and circular, as well as all other joint articulation. Working with rhythmic, spiraling, and undulating movements, Gyrokinesis® exercises improve kinetic understanding and re-educates the body to move with fluidity, relaxation, elegance and power.
Gyrokinesis®exercises and combined breathing patterns help to increase range of motion in the body, release structural tension, stimulate blood flow, oxygenation, and energy through the nervous system. As a result the entire organism is strengthened which leads to improved health and vitality.
