BDA 2018 DANCE CHAMPIONS NAMED!

Boston Dance Alliance is delighted to announce its 2018 honorees!

Jeanne Traxler has been named the 2018 Dr. Michael Shannon Dance Champion. 

Jeanne Traxler was an original founder of the PB&J Dance Company in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1976 and in Massachusetts in 1980. She teaches PB&J Dance Classes for Kids and co-directs the SMALL FEETS dance company. Deeply committed to sharing the love of dance with young people, she was a founding member of Boston’s Children’s Dance Festival, has taught workshops and classes for Dance Across the City and the Dance for World Community Festival, and created many site-specific and theatrical works in Brookline.

 

Dr. Lyle J. Micheli has been named the 2018 Boston Dance Alliance Unsung Hero.

Dr. Micheli, a pioneer in the field of dance medicine, served as attending physician for Boston Ballet and consultant to the Boston Ballet School. Founder of the Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention, he is longtime Director of the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School. This past fall, he helped inaugurate Boston Dance Alliance’s Dancer Health Day in Cambridge.
