Equity and opportunity have always been at the heart of Boston Dance Alliance’s mission, and during these challenging economic times we need your help more than ever to sustain these aims.
BDA continues to focus on delivering programs and services that create more, higher-paying gigs for dance professionals while simultaneously providing opportunities for community members to experience the joy of dance.
Our Annual Celebration honors the past while investing in the future to ensure that all of the benefits of dance continue to accrue to the Greater Boston community. Donate to BDA today to help ensure that the dancers who “move us” continue to flourish.
Boston dancers and choreographers pour their hearts, bodies, and souls into their craft. But recent data reveals a sobering truth: dance professionals in Massachusetts earn an average of just $7,074 a year from their creative work.
That’s not sustainable, and it’s not acceptable.
At Boston Dance Alliance, we believe artistic excellence deserves economic dignity. That’s why we launched the BDA 7074 Initiative, a campaign that builds on BDA’s programs and services and helps create more paid opportunities for local dancers and choreographers. We want to increase financial stability for local dance artists here in Greater Boston.
Donations to he 7074 Initiative are helping Boston Dance Alliance to:
- Identify, expand and manage income-generating teaching and performing gigs for dance artists;
- Partner with presenters, producers, venues and other institutions to increase opportunities for dancers to share knowledge and showcase their talents;
- Advocate for fair pay and better working conditions for dancers and other artists in the creative economy; and
- Provide resources and support to dancers working to sustain their creative livelihoods during these challenging economic times.
We’re calling on you as part of our community of dance lovers, champions, and change-makers to help us meet this moment and continue to do more for dancers. With your gift, we make even more progress in reducing the income gap and raising the floor for dancers in Greater Boston.
