Windhover Center for the Performing Arts presents a double bill of contemporary dance performance from dynamic New York City-based artists Alison Cook Beatty Dance and Nattie Trogdon + Hollis Bartlett. This special one-night only event celebrates the breadth of ways in which legacy informs contemporary dance, from works that embrace tradition to ones that seek to escape the familiar. Founded in 2012, Alison Cook Beatty Dance company is a classically-based modern dance company exploring the universal human condition through expansive and emotionally-driven movement grounded in American modern dance while exploring new approaches to finding unique creative expression.
Nattie Trogdon and Hollis Bartlett create dance, film, and research-based practices that challenge conventional ideas of performance and personhood. Their work has been presented at leading New York venues and festivals including LMCC’s River to River Festival, Gibney, Movement Research at Judson Church, and the 92nd Street Y. As performers, teachers, and writers, they have collaborated with acclaimed artists including Kathy Westwater, Joanna Kotze, David Dorfman, and Doug Varone.
