BoSoma Dance Company IN THE BALANCE
BoSoma Dance Company proudly presents IN THE BALANCE, an evening of contemporary dance led by Artistic Director Katherine Hooper as part of BDC’s 22nd Annual Season. The program features works by company dancer Cassie Laskowski and guest choreographers Ambere Rogers, Chantal Kelleher, Alyssa Sullivan, Tony Tucker and Hooper herself.
This spring, BDC welcomed back former company member Tony Tucker, premiering Freakquency, a new work exploring shifting energies and alignment as a pathway to personal evolution. The evening also includes returning favorites and a new debut by Hooper, including Pathos, set to the minimalist music of Ludovico Einaudi, which guides audiences through reflection, vulnerability, and emotional depth. Hooper’s Power (2019) returns as a striking trio examining love, loss, and resilience through movement and shared strength. Additional works include Return (2025) by Laskowski, Influence (2025) by Sullivan, And I Hold On (2025) by Rogers, Mom Jeans (2025) by Kelleher, and Calm in the Chaos (2025) by Hooper. Together, the program explores connection and separation, growth and influence, memory and belonging, and the balance between responsibility and selfhood.
Spanning themes of motherhood, creativity, resilience, and finding calm amid uncertainty, IN THE BALANCE invites audiences to reflect on how we remain grounded and evolve through constant change. The evening also features returning guest companies BoSoma Youth Company and Afmohip, along with Julianne Cerreta Choreography joining the stage. J
