brasa | جمرة is an evening-length interdisciplinary dance theater work created by Danza Orgánica and collaborators, to be premiered at the CROMA Open Doors Residency. Integrating contemporary dance, ritual, multimedia design, and Puerto Rican and Palestinian traditional dances, the work explores collective memory, ancestral knowledge, resistance, and transformation through an immersive and culturally grounded lens focused in Puerto Rico and Palestine. Rooted in storytelling and lived experiences, the piece brings collaborator Juliet Salameh, choreographers Mar Parrilla and Jassi Murad, and composers Ghassan Swalhi and Jorge Arce, into a liberatory cocreative process. It also features dancers and cocreators: Marcel Santiago Marcelino, Claudia Varela, Fran de Paula, Dana Alsamsam, Yarumi Gonzalez, Simon Montalvo, and Jenny Huang; and musicians Flight or Visibility, and Sasha Costanza-Chock. The work is directed by Mar Parrilla.

brasa | جمرة asks: How do we resist? How do we heal? What do we carry forward? brasa | جمرة creates a sacred gathering space where audiences are invited not only to witness performance, but to participate in collective remembrance and reflection. The world premiere of brasa | جمرة , is accompanied by a memory altar.
