This fall, the National Ballet of Ukraine will embark on a tour of the eastern United States to bring one of the most beloved and lasting symbols of Ukrainian culture to America.  The company is an embodiment of the best of Ukrainian culture, and will perform highlights from their repertoire, as well as a guest appearance by Shumka, a Ukrainian folkloric troupe based in Canada. They will be visiting this October 10th at Shubert Theatre.

The goal of the tour is twofold: to showcase and celebrate the rich and impressive culture of Ukraine, and to help raise funds for the HUMANITE Peace Collective, and organization that helps people in need before, during, and after war and works to end wars and genocide.  The funds raised will help build underground classrooms and bomb shelters for the 900,000 students whose childhood and future are under attack.

In addition to taking a devastating toll on the lives of the people of this brave nation, the Russian invasion also is trying to destroy the arts and cultural legacy of Ukraine, having damaged or demolished more than 500 museums, cultural institutions and historic buildings and having plundered or destroyed of countless emblems of Ukrainian pride.
