Tafuta! A Young Child’s Search for the True Meaning of Kwanzaa blends music, dance, and poetry to tell the story of a young child who is bullied in school because of her family’s tradition of celebrating Kwanzaa. The child ultimately embraces her heritage, discovers her own voice and self-empowerment and draws on the strength found in this African American tradition to triumph over the bullies. Tafuta is the only play of its kind and is surely going to make audiences understand the importance of family and traditions. The cast includes children ages 7-16 from all over Massachusetts including students from private, public and charter schools. This is a wonderful event for the entire family!
