Island Moving Companypresents Resonant Visions and Tales of Mother Goose. The former will be on May 6 and 7 at 7:30PMand the latter, May 7 and 8 at 4PM in Barrington, Rhode Island.

 

José Mateo Ballet Theatre presents Beyond the Beaten Path: Tap Dancing with Ryan Casey and OFF BEAT as a part of their Dance Saturdays Series. The performance will be at the Sanctuary Theater in Harvard Square on Saturday, May 7 at 7PM.

 

Celtic Illusion is set to light up Boston’s Shubert Theatre with its unique fusion of modern Irish dance and spellbinding magic for one night only on Saturday, May 7 at 8PM.

 

The first workshop in Kieran Jordan’s new series is Saturday, May 7 from 1-2:15PM in Dedham! The class will include the very basics of Irish dance, including foundation footwork that is used in traditional step and céilí dancing, as well as easy sean-nós (old style) steps. For teens and adults of all ages. No experience required. Registration required by May 3rd!

 

OnStage returns to the stage! Brand new, live work comes to the BU Dance Theater for their 22nd performance season. The program features dances in contemporary, jazz, tap, pop and modern, plus the premiere of three dance films Saturday, May 7 at 2PM and 7PM

 

Heidi Henderson’s Elephant JANE Dance presents “untitled sad piece” at Connecticut College on Sunday, May 8 at 2PM and 7PM. In quiet reiterative solos, touching duets, and one wild investigatory burst of galumphing, five dancers respond to the deep sadness in the grain of Karen Carpenter’s voice, initiate from the dancers’ hearts, and find tenderness.

 

 

Greater Roxbury Arts and Cultural Center is seeking an Executive DirectorThe Greater Roxbury Arts and Cultural Center (GRACC), a 40,000+ square foot Cultural Hall facility, is projected to open its doors in Fall 2024. Comprised of a theater with approximately 300 seats, movement arts hall, education studios, rehearsal space, and a dedicated lobby, GRACC’s mission is to empower, inspire, and celebrate the rich diversity of Roxbury, transforming the neighborhood into a cultural, academic, entertainment, and artistic mecca. The Tufts University Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies seeks applicants for a one-semester part-time lecturer position in Dance. We are inviting a number of dance lecturers to visit Tufts for one semester over the course of the next two-three academic years, commencing with the Fall 2022 semester. Responsibilities include teaching one undergraduate introductory course in a genre specific dance technique. The part-time lecturer will visit for one semester only.

Boston Bhangra is hosting tryouts! The tryout is all done online and it’s free! All you have to do is fill out this form, include the video, and then attend the Tryout Meeting on Sunday, June 19th @ 9 PM. Please keep in mind that the form MUST be completed by June 17th or you will be not be provided the link for the tryout video on June 19th. Practices start on July 10th in Allston MA in person, and will be every Sunday from 3-4 PM or so. The cost for joining the seniors team is $250 and the cost for joining the juniors team is $300.

 

Boston Dancemakers Residencygrantee Kimberleigh Holman is exploring the mundane, in which common tasks and notions will be shown through the lens of performance and spectacle. Participate in her process by answering the questions in her survey!

 

The Tiny Dances Project is a series of video dances and other artistic interpretations by Janessa Clark. Each ‘tiny dance’ activates the contents of a private letter. These letters have been sent to Janessa from all over the world via post, to/from anonymous email accounts, and in collection stations at her
performances and open studios. The collection is now on display at MIT through May 10th!
