Pro/Motion – week of December 25

Happy Holidays, BDA Community!

As the year comes to an end, we’re giving thanks for good health. It’s the foundation for a quality life as well as a vibrant community and economy – a source of individual and collective vitality for dancers and the greater Boston dance community.

That’s why dancers’ health is at the heart of so many BDA programs. From full-body check-ups at Dancer Health Days to building dance audiences through website listings & weekly newsletters to facilitating funding through fiscal sponsorship, our aim is to support dancers’ physical, mental, social, and financial well-being.

Good health is not only necessary for dance but dance also contributes to good health. Please help BDA to sustain this virtuous cycle into the next year by donating today. Your support will ensure even better health for even more dancers in 2024. Wishing you a happy & healthy new year!

With gratitude,

Aaron Myers, Interim Executive Director

Congratulations to Laila J. Franklin for being listed on Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch“. The annual list of dancers, choreographers, directors, and companies poised for a breakout share an uncanny knack for arresting attention. They’ve been turning heads while turning what’s expected—in a performance, from a career trajectory—on its head.

Franklin, who earned a BFA from Boston Conservatory in 2019 and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 2021, is also a choreographer, teaching artist, and writer. She also is one of the BCA Dancemakers this year and we cannot wait to witness her work created during the residency.
