Congratulations to The Flavor Continues, awarded a special $5,000 Boston Cultural Council grant as a Modeling Equity Organization for their ongoing work in the arts sector.

 

Congratulations to Urbanity Dance, recipient of a City of Boston grant for Workforce Development for Creative Workers. Their Space Rental Program will provide access to high-quality, accessible studio space, at no cost to the artists who participate. Urbanity will also provide opportunities for the Rental Artists to gather, socialize, network, and collaborate.

Extended congratulations to Boston Center for the Arts funded to continue the ACTivate Residency, five-day residencies to individuals and small groups of artists to create site-responsive work in the historic Cyclorama.

Dancers may take advantage of other professional development opportunities funded by this initiative in the months ahead as well! Stay tuned.

 

Free participatory international folk dancing on the Copley Square plaza resumes Tuesday evening July 5 7:30-9:30PM led by Andy Taylor, in a series that welcomes dancers of all ages and abilities.

Tango in the Park with free performances and beginner lessons at Condon Shell, 2501 Mystic Valley Pkwy, Medford happens every Saturday, from July 9 to August 27, 6:30-9:30 PM The performance starts at 7:15 PMBeginner tango lesson is from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. No partner necessary.

 

Tango by Moonlight is back for the first time since 2019! The season begins at the Dewey Square Plaza at South Station July 9 6-9 PM. Upcoming full moon dancing dates are August 13, Sep 10 and Oct 8.

 

Nozama Dance Collective presents N2: An Intimate Showing of New Work. The free performance features five world premieres by directors and members of Nozama Dance Collective with commentary by the works’ creators, plus a screening of AUTONOMY, the dance film on Saturday July 9, 7pm at Mass Motion in Brighton. The event will also be live-streamed.

 

Authentic Movement Workshop with Paula Josa-Jones
Authentic Movement is a meditative, intuitive, improvisational movement practice involving a mover and a witness. It is a practice of listening, attunement; slowing and opening to a deeper sensing of body and psyche. Sunday, July 10, 1-4:30 PM at Berkshire Pulse, 420 Park Street, Housatonic.

Boston Dance Theater (BDT) seeks an Administrative Assistant (AA) to the Founder and Co-Artistic Director, Jessie Jeanne Stinnett. The AA will be responsible for the upkeep of key organizational operations including but not limited to: schedule management, bookings, donor communications, artist liaison, and fundraising follow-up. Part time, paid hourly. The candidate may participate in company class although this does not count toward hours worked. Must begin the onboarding experience in July 2022.

 

The Worcester Arts Council has project and individual fellowship grants available for $2,500, $5,000, $7500, and $10,000. This is a great opportunity for those artists who typically get excluded from Boston centered-funding due to geography. Deadline to apply is Sunday, July 10.

happening July 10-15. Programming will include many of the events and activities that have always been a part of daCi conferences, including performances by children and youth, scholarly presentations, and opportunities for children and youth to create and collaborate with others.
