Based in Oakland, California, BANDALOOP is renowned for its vertical dance performances in settings ranging from skyscrapers and bridges to old city walls and heritage sites, indoor atriums, conventional theaters, and natural cliffs. Whether dancing on an urban heritage site or performing on cliffs in Yosemite National Park, Artistic Director Amelia Rudolph’s work brings an extraordinary sensitivity to the site, combining aesthetics with a deep love and respect for the natural and built environment. All the dancers in the company’s current roster have a modern dance background, and receive rigorous training in strength and aerial technique to master the company’s signature vertical dance style.
