Together as Dance Caliente, Raul and Eileen share a compelling magnetism as master teachers, choreographers, and performers. Their goal is to impart the joy of partner dancing onto their students. They welcome students of varying ages and experience. In the classroom, with two teachers they are able to separate group classes into sections according to ability or desire, while still finding opportunities to give individualized attention. They show a high level of commitment to meeting every student’s needs through their patience and sincerity, and by creating an atmosphere of fun and energy. Along with their exceptional teaching techniques, Dance Caliente creates the best possible learning environment.

Salsa: A vibrant, high-energy social dance with roots in Cuban Son and Afro-Cuban rhythms, later popularized in New York City. It is characterized by its infectious rhythm and intricate footwork. It is defined by its lively hip action and a festive, expressive connection to the music.

Swing (Lindy Hop): Swing/Lindy evolved in Harlem, New York, during the late 1920s and 30s alongside the Big Band jazz era. It is a joyful, and fun dance capturing the exuberant spirit of the Jazz Age.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, a local commission that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the City of Medford.
